Hi Pixie Pals!
As some of you may know, I mentioned in
my new hair post that I wasn't able to finish the spring trend report this year, due to me being really busy and dealing with motivation issues :(
So to make it up to you all, I've put extra effort into this year's Summer 2026 Trend Report!
This year's summer trend report was actually a lot easier for me to make, since I've noticed a lot of these trends myself going out and seeing what folks are wearing in cool, trendy, areas in my city.
So, without any further ado, let's get right into it!!
On the Dot
Starting off strong with what might arguably be one of if not the biggest trend of the season, polka dots have been all over the collections of all the hottest brands right now.
Lots of popular clothing brands, such as Hollister, Pacsun, and Urban Outfitters, have been showing a plethora of posh and playful polka dot pieces, from stylish and sassy halter and tube tops to sweet and sporty shorts and mini skirts.
Got a special occasion coming up and want to make a statement? Elevate your look with a funky and fab polka dot dress!
Whether they're dressed up or down, polka dotted pieces can make for a cute, lively, and timeless look, making them the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe this year!
Whatever Floats Your Boat
A boat neckline, also known as a bateau or Sabrina neckline, is a high neckline that runs in a straight, horizontal line right across the collarbone.
Originally popularized around the 1920s-1930s by legendary fashion designer Coco Chanel, boat necks are a universal symbol of elegance and maturity in fashion. With the rise of the "quiet luxury" look in recent years, it's no wonder that a garment with such connotations is so in vogue as of late!
A boat neckline can also make the shoulders appear more broad, making them a good choice for those with a pear/inverted triangle body type who are looking to balance out their proportions through clothing.
Bitch, Ca-please!
Capris? Back in style? Yeah, it surprised me too. But believe it or not, the mid-shin length cropped pants of the 2000's are making one hell of a comeback this season; and to be honest, Pixie Pals, I'm kinda living for it. Because think about it - capris are not only super cute and comfortable, but they're also one of the most versatile clothing pieces out there. Allow me to explain...
...for a comfortable everyday piece that goes with any outfit, choose a capri legging...
...opt for a denim capri for a casual and stylish look...
...and if you really wanna take the Y2K vibe to eleven, consider a capri from an iconic 2000s brand, like Baby Phat or Miss Me!
Go with the Flow
With the rising summer heat, an important fashion tip is to wear flowy, breathable clothes to allow airflow to the body - and lucky for you, Pixie Pals, there are a plethora of ways you can incorporate this pretty and practical trend into your summer wardrobe!
Pair a drapey top with flowy pants or a skirt for a tropica-licious ensemble that can be worn to any summer occasion, from a family pool outing to a beach barbecue.
And what screams "summer resort getaway" more than a billowing floor length dress?
Cute as a Button
This last one isn't necessarily a "fashion" trend, but I still felt like I should mention it.
If you've been on particular corners of social media recently, chances are you've seen some kind of content regarding buttons. Whether it's button-related DIY projects or a collection of buttons of all shapes and sizes, the girlies just can't seem to get enough of the little circular craft tokens as of late!

The button motif is simply part of a larger aesthetic trend; the "whimsy" aesthetic has been all over TikTok and Pinterest these past months, with themes of bright colors, DIYs, and an overall vibe of happiness and optimism.

Now, one might look at this trend of DIY and whimsy and not think anything of it. Just another trend, right? Well, trends don't exist in a vaccum; they always reflect the culture that creates them, and vice versa.
But these generative AI models aren't all they're cracked up to be; they operate from massive data centers, and all the electricity used to generate those prompts can heat up the equipment fast, so they use water to cool them down. But with thousands if not millions of prompts a day, all the fresh water needed to cool down those rapidly heating data processors can add up quick. "A medium-sized date center can consume up to roughly 110 million gallons of water per year for cooling purposes," writes
Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) project manager Miguel YaƱez-Barnuevo, "equivalent to the annual water usage of approximately 1,000 households." And since these data centers use almost exclusively freshwater, which accounts for only 3% of all water on Earth, households near these data centers are left with water that might not be safe to drink.
"Pixie, this is a fashion blog," you might be saying, "what's with all this talk of data centers and water consumption?"
In a world that is constantly being smothered by generative AI and new-fangled tech no one really seems to want, let alone benefit from, I feel like this aesthetic is a way for people to reclaim a power that they feel they have been robbed of - the power to be truly and authentically human. To be human is to take up space, to create, to leave behind something that will remind people of you for generations to come. When it feels like true humanity is becoming scarce, a handmade touch is a way for humanity to leave its mark.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's wrap this up with a Runway Recap (say that ten times fast!)
